How To Construct A Timeless Wardrobe Without Overspending

By Lashanda Dimarzo

Creating a formal wardrobe can be a difficult task. There are a lot of factors involved, such as color, price, availability and fabric. You can use these tips to choose better pieces of clothing.

Fashions are constantly changing, so look for some basic items of clothing that you can add to and create a new look. A great fitting pair of black pants are the basic look you can dress up or dress down, as well as wear in summer or during the winter months.

If you have to wear stockings, make sure that you wear some that fit you very well and are not too large or too small. Wearing the wrong size can make you very uncomfortable and it does not look good for you if you have to adjust them in public areas.

If you are not very tall, you should be careful about wearing sweaters that are too long. While you do not want to wear something that is so short that it resembles a cropped top, wearing something with too much length will only make you appear to be much shorter than you actually are.

Make your style unique. You can follow what you learn, or you can create your own style. You'll need to be fashion-forward to do so, but there's no reason this should make you uncomfortable.

If you like form fitting clothing, it is very important to know what materials and colors blend together, and will hold their form the best. This is significant because if you get the wrong blend, not only the outfit will possibly go out of shape, but it might be uncomfortable as well.

Don't follow a trend just because it's "in." Just because something looks fantastic on the super slim runway model, it does not mean it will look good on your body shape and size. Develop your own style and avoid falling for supposedly hot trends presented in fashion magazines that expire quicker than a gallon of milk. Trust your gut. You can't go wrong by following your gut.

Hats are a great accessory to match any kind of outfit. For men, there are the typical fisherman hats and baseball caps, but for women, the possibilities run much deeper. For instance, you can wear a cute sun hat, floppy hat or beach hat with any casual dress you own.

To push your style, try layering a fun skirt over a dress. There are many dresses out there that would make excellent tops. Just throw a skirt over the dress itself. The skirt should be made of thicker fabric, so you don't have unseemly bunching. You could even have the dress peek out a bit below the skirt for a fun, unorthodox look.

A lot of times, jackets will have loose stitches near vents or shoulders. These threads can make your whole look appear a little sloppy. Just get some scissors and cut them to remove them. This is a simple way to improve your style.

Be wary of fabrics when you buy clothing. Look at the tag to see what each item is made out of. If the clothes fits now, it may not fit after you wash it several times. Avoid wasting your money on clothes that will probably fray, lose shape, or shrink.

Nowadays, many famous celebrities aim for extremely extravagant or unique looks featuring many layers, the truth is that sometimes, simple is better. Although there is nothing wrong with aiming for a big look, you can sometimes go over the top. A simple black or red dress can sometimes do wonders for your look.

As you can see, there is no need to be overwhelmed by the choices of fabric, style and price when you need to go formal. Use them to create your own personal style. Keep these tips in mind for all the help you need.
