Five Ways To Save On Your Next HP Purchase

By Joesph B. Kappernick

Big Data and the need to store and manage it all has become a priority for many businesses in recent years, and Hewlett Packard's enterprise business has grown increasingly bigger with this new demand. They are a popular choice for many businesses looking to buy new computers, servers and storage. Unfortunately, with the increase of these types of purchases, pricing has become inflated and unpredictable.

If you are in the market for new HP products, consider these five important questions before you pay too much:

1. Can I combine purchases to save money?

Buying in bulk is the way to go. You will get higher discounts and have more leverage for negotiations if you purchase more products at one time. While buying "on-demand" is sometimes necessary, try to avoid it as much as possible to lower hardware costs.

2. Is this a good time to make a purchase?

The best time to buy is usually at the end of a quarter or end of the year since this is when HP offers additional discounts. If you need to make a purchase, try to wait until one of these dates to get the most for your money.

3. Do I need HP support?

The support and maintenance agreements offered by HP are typically going to cost more money and cause more headaches than one provided by a third-pary option. Help stay on budget by considering all of your support choices before committing to HP.

4. Is this a global purchase?

HP will typically charge as much as 25 percent more for any hardware to be used outside of the US. Be ready for these inflated prices and know how you will negotiate for a better deal.

5. Am I paying fair market value?

The pricing for many HP hardware products can vary greatly, especially for servers and storage. The best way to avoid paying above fair market value is to research prices for the items you need. Being educated will also help you with negotiations, in addition to saving money.
