Alexandra Park is a diverse community located in the heart of Toronto's downtown, surrounded by the vibrant neighbourhoods of Kensington Market, Chinatown and West Queen West.

The Alexandra Park community was built starting in 1968.The last building constructed was 20 Vanauley, built in the 1980s. It was originally a public housing community with some buildings managed by the province and others by the City of Toronto. By 1990, the leadership of the Alexandra Park Residents Association (APRA) were convinced that residents would prefer tenant-led property management. After years of community consultation, in 1998 the province approved a plan to convert Alexandra Park to the Atkinson Housing Co-operative (Atkinson/Alexandra Park) and transfer property management responsibilities to the newly formed co-operative.

Today, the Atkinson Co-op handles 410 townhouse and apartment systems in Alexandra Park, with Toronto Neighborhood Housing managing the remaining 396 apartment systems. The revitalization is a partnership in between both companies to transform the community.
