When it comes to playing video games, sometimes people have a better time if they record themselves playing. They may want to show themselves progressing through games and talking over them through the entire duration. It's one of those practices which are done quite often if you searched YouTube, which brings me to Nintendo. Recently, it seems like the company has taken a certain action which I think will have an impact on the company's social media networking, though I don't think it will be for the better.
In my mind, online marketing is something that's immensely important for any business in the world. This goes especially for Nintendo, as the company made news by claiming that it would place ads on any videos that featured gameplay videos from their titles. It doesn't seem to matter what kinds of videos they are, as long as moving pictures are seen in great numbers. I think that this could be something tremendously impactful to users who have been making money because of the videos they've posted.
On the one hand, this encourages users to be more original when it comes to their work. In this regard, it's possible that there could be a jump in quality, but the chances of this happening is, in my eyes at least, very slim. It could also be something that ultimately hurts Nintendo because, for so long, these Let's Play videos have served as free advertisement for the company. Gamers who were hesitant to purchase the products had another opinion, so who's to say such an option will fade because of Nintendo's interference?
Once the news broke, you can be certain that several fans were unhappy with the choice because it meant that many of their favorite YouTubers would probably not post videos anymore. Keep in mind that there are a select few Let's Players who are entertaining and they are able to gain a great deal of attention. With Nintendo taking hold, I think that it can do much in terms of social media networking for the company. Agencies like fishbat may believe it will do as much harm as good, if not more.
I enjoy quite a number of Let's Players, though the amount which I view as quality is actually quite slim. I think that there is actually a lot of work that goes into cutting up and editing videos so that they are able to come together to make better products. I don't want Nintendo to cause the people I enjoy watching to step away because they have an immense amount of talent. I suppose time will only tell what happens as far as Nintendo's ads are concerned.
