You've probably been the victim of rumors about something, these are no different with health and fitness. Myths often occur when the person doesn't get the whole tip before sharing with someone else on and on and on it goes truthful or not it's still a rumor. Maybe they even didn't hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again.

One of the most well known myths about fitness is regarding treadmill workouts and your knees. Some believe that running on a treadmill is easier on your knees than running on a hard surface outdoors. Let's kill this rumor here and now. When you run or jog, the force of your weight impacts your knees. Surface has nothing to do with it.

Regardless of the tiny bit of give a treadmill will give you your knees are still going t take the impact of your weight. Your shoes can help absorb some of this impact. If you believe the myth that you can't get a good workout if you aren't feeling the burn you're mistaken. Peaks often happen days later when you finally feel the effects of your workout. What this describes is someone who's been inactive for a while and decides they need to hit the gym with gusto to get fit in a hurry, they often feel sore and give up shortly after. To avoid the above situation take it slow, don't rush yourself and above all else consult your doctor first.

No pain, no gain. That's the only way to do it and get great results. If you are living by this motto you are making a mistake. There is of course a difference between having a good workout and being in serious pain. If it hurts don't do it, it the best rule to follow in relation to workout pain and soreness that does not subside in a reasonable amount of time. If you have injured yourself, you want to stop exercising to avoid increasing the level of your injury.

Engaging in a quality fitness routine will help improve your physical and mental performance, as well. Your physical performance will benefit from your increased strength and stamina. People who exercise regularly enjoy a greater degree of clarity, which obviously helps with mental performance. Also, it is true that people who have regular exercise naturally tend to carry those positive habits into other areas of their life such as diet and nutrition.

It is well worth it to learn as much as possible concerning what is true or not in health and fitness. It's in your best interest to do the research. Learning how to exercise properly is the best thing you can do for yourself. The benefits you will reap are worth the extra effort to do the research.
