By Ron Stucky

Much has been written about the detox diet (detoxification) over the decades. It seems the past ten years, roughly, have seen an explosion of these diets. The basic principle is the same across all of them, and that is to use foods (or liquids) to help your body get rid of toxins. First, we must caution you and suggest you talk to your doctor before embarking on any kind of detox diet. Many people turn to this overall approach when they want to lose weight. While it is possible to achieve that, we feel the loss will be temporary for a variety of reasons. We will talk more about the detox diet in the rest of this article.

You will find information that discusses symptoms of toxicity in your body. Nevertheless, it is important to note that many reasons could be had for seeing these frequent side effects. Jumping to conclusions should be bypassed in terms of this. Although there are numerous kinds of diets that detoxify, definitely they are not created to assist in the healing of a disease. As stated previously, they are short term strategies that support your body. Keeping up any sort of detox dieting is not wise.

As long as you don't have certain medical conditions and it's used properly, the detox diet can be very beneficial. Some examples include heart disease, diabetes, those with intestinal problems and other chronic problems. The detox diet is a highly restrictive one, which is the main complaint of most doctors. The detox approach usually entails a very restrictive diet, at least for a short time. There are concerns of possible negative side effects, especially for teenagers and younger children.

Blood carries waste products away from the cells, and needs to be cleansed, which takes place in the liver. It is important to keep the liver functioning at high levels, and this can happen with herbal liver cleanses. Many substances are good for cleaning the liver, and some of these are Milk Thistle, which might be the best, and also Burdock root and Chlorella. The liver is a most important organ, with many vital functions necessary for the body to remain healthy, so taking herbal substances that support a healthy liver is a wise choice. Detoxing the body is a team effort, and one of those parts is the skin, which is the largest organ there is. If your pores are kept open, poisons will be allowed out through the skin, so brushing your skin regularly is beneficial. When you remove dead skin with consistent brushing, you will stimulate blood flow and keep the pores open.

Used for millenniums, detox diets have been seen in different cultures and in different forms. In truth, this is considered a different type of medicine or methods and it has created debates within the Western medicine community. Always be certain to go slow and safe if you want to pursue this arena.
