Drawbacks Of Spray Tanning Equipment In Houses

By Haywood Hunter

A spray tanning equipment is also sometimes called tanning bed, sunbed, or sun tanning booth or bed. It is a device that gives off UV beams used in the creation of cosmetic tans on the body. The ultraviolet rays can be of either grade B or A. Grade A is employed to a maximum of 97 percent. Grade B gets used to a limit of 3 percent with margin error of positive or negative three percent.

Regular tanning devices incorporate many fluorescent lamps, which have phosphor blends. The lamps are meant to emit ultraviolet in a spectrum that is similar to that of the sun. Smaller, residential devices normally contain 12 up to 28 lamps of 100 watts each whereas the bigger models found in tanning salons may consist up to 60 lamps. Each lamp emits 100 to 200 watts of power.

There also exists beds known as high pressure, which generate UV grade A and some grade B using filters, reflector systems, and specialized quartz lamps. Their use is however limited because of their high cost. The major difference between booths and beds is that in beds, people lie down while in booths they stand upright during the process. Booths also have a higher power output compared to beds.

There are some adverse effects associated with the use of these devices. The effects come about due to over exposure to the ultraviolet radiation. The major effects include skin cancer, premature aging, suppression of the human immune system, mutation, and cataracts among others. Due to these, the world health organization discourages the use of the equipment for cosmetic purposes. The UVA beams used in most devices is capable of causing the most lethal form of skin cancer called melanoma.

As a safety measure, one should always use goggles to avoid a condition called arc eye also known as snow blindness. Devices that incorporate timers are useful in helping to avoid over exposure to the UV radiations. This implies that one must be very careful to get out when the time elapses. There have been injuries when users carelessly fall asleep when inside the equipment. This is dangerous and may lead to multiple problems.

There is research which indicates that these appliances can be addictive. People always want to keep using them even if they know that they may be risking their lives. This normally happens to people who have their own systems in the house and use them whenever they want without any advisement.

The device should be properly maintained to keep it functional. One needs to hire a professional technician to examine the machine ones after a given while to ensure that no likely dangers exist. All power input systems ought to be functional and all lights should be operational. If one fails to maintain the gadget working well, dangerous eye and skin conditions are likely to result.

Spray tanning equipment comes in various sizes to accommodate people of different weights. The height is normally a standard measure running across almost all models. Prices keep falling as more companies venture into the industry leading to competition that can only be countered through price reduction measures.
