By Maryl Joop

Going to college in St. George can be a fun and beneficial experience. There is a lot to do and see in the area which boosts college life and makes it even more enjoyable.

It is important to begin by saying that college is an experience as much as it is a training scenario for later life. As such, it is recommended that people go to school to get the experience of it all.

In the college setting you will meet new people, learn to develop a work ethic, discover skills and passions that might not otherwise have been found, and is a great way to mature a little more. It is an experience which will be both fun and tough; invigorating yet draining.

There are a lot of people that do not realize that there is such a wide variety of options. As you are looking into the different majors, you should know what classes are required for the majors that you are interested in.

The skills learned in the college setting actually are a very important way to prepare for future employment. It may not immediately seem like it, but the papers which are written and the math that is done and the projects with others all do have a real basis in reality.

What's more, St. George is also near several major national parks, featuring truly dazzling vistas and sights. Such proximity means that students should be able to go and experience these parks on a fairly regular basis.

The area also has great food to seek out and enjoy. Indeed, the city is home to many different restaurants, which is sure to appeal to any taste.

The same can be said for learning about the problems with procrastination and how it is best to take care of things well in advance.

Such lessons can be heard, but there is real value in experiencing them and learning the best ways to deal with them.

While you are working to figure out your class schedule within a major, your guidance counselor will also be a great person to visit. Get familiar with your guidance counselor so you can utilize the expertise of the counselor.

This is what employers need to be able to utilize in the workplace. Knowing that people were able to get through classes and get passing grades shows to employees that the person is a viable candidate for employment.

With a degree, people will be more qualified for jobs, have options opened to them which they might not have even considered, and also be worth more salary money. No matter how you look at it, this experience is one which is beneficial in the lives of those who are in attendance.
