Turret nuts are special types of fasteners. They have holes that have been threaded. They were originally made in order to be used in the aircraft industry. They are named turret nuts since they contain a collared section mainly used for locking. This section contains two slots organized in such a manner that one slot is above the other slit. This arrangement helps in depitching the bolt threads. That in turn provides lesser torque but greater re-usability.

They have different grades. This strength grading must however be compatible with the strength of the bolt with which it functions. For instance, a class 10 nut can only be used with a bolt whose strength is graded at class 10.9 in order to avoid chances of stripping. Likewise, a class 5 nut can only be used with a class 5 bolt for the similar reasons, and so on.

These devices also have different sizes. The sizes however vary depending on the industrial standards of given industries. This means that they are either small or big depending on the manufacturer. It also depends on the types of the parts of a machine that are to be stuck together.

Turret nuts are manufactured using different materials. These materials determine the proof strength, the tensile ultimate strength and tensile yield strength of the subsequent nut. This consequently defines the category of the nut plus the bolt.

The materials used comprise moderate or low carbon steel, Alloy steel Q&T, moderate carbon steel Q&T. Alloy steel Q&T contains the greatest strength of these. It is largely used to create nut class 10.

Turret nuts cannot be affected by chemicals like petrol, bases, acids and oils amongst others. They are further resistant to vapors. Besides, they are suitably utilized in both temperatures that are high and also those that are low.
